Jo Ann en français | Jo Ann in English | Jo Ann em português

Jo Ann von Haff was born in Angola. Of German and Portuguese origins, she started travelling at a very young age. She made her firsts steps in Cuba, grew up between Angola and Portugal, and graduated in the French school of Johannesburg in South Africa. She started writing seriously at the age of 16, poetry in French and Portuguese and novels about romance in French. Years later, her poetry is strictly in English and her novels still in French are "contemporary".

She travels by being a genetic nomad, is fascinated by scars and traumas of every kind, she is fond of African storytellers, loves photography and feels lost without her big family. She defends the cultural melting-pot that made her and belongs to this new generation of globe-trotting children, multilingual before being able to say "mum" in any language.

Jo Ann is the author of seven novels (in French and English), three poetry collections (in English) and several short stories (in French and English).

Gazelle is her first novel published in France in 2006.

The Thirteenth oncubine and The Healer Queen are her first (fantasy) novels written in English, published in 2008, and are available for download. For more information about this Fantasy saga, go to www.fihalodan.com.

Looking for an illustrator to work on a graphic novel !

I've always thought my saga wasn't meant to be a novel but something graphic. My main character, Fiha Lodan, is mute, so it has to be visual. The landscapes are vivid, the clothes and hairstyles precise, it's a whole universe I want to share and at this stage, words are not enough.

If you are interested, please contact me ! (III 2009)
